Designblok 2016
October was a busy time for Mint as our White Canvas exhibition continued, but some of the Mint team were lucky to travel to Prague to visit the 2016 DesignBlok which ran from 27th – 31st October. Owner Lina was honoured to be chosen to speak at the event along with a panel of high-flyers in the design world. The panel of 16 also judged the Diploma Selection Awards for the Product Design graduate finalists.

Shadows of Installation by Hipposdesign
Hipposdesign installed a collection of bikes currently owned by friends, colleagues and other gear-heads either directly or remotely affiliated with the Hipposdesign studio. The bikes created a dramatic spatial experience, and some beautiful shadows too.
Art House
For the third year running there were projects displayed in the Lapidarium building of the National Museum, bordering both art and design; sculptures, screenings, objects and lighting installations.
Memento Mori by Maxim Velčovský
The Latin phrase Memento Mori became the essence of this object, symbolising birth and death as well as the disappearing crafts that are passed from generation to generation in Europe.
Nihon Lobendau collection by Katerina Plamitzerova
The fashion collection aims to bring two distant worlds together, inspired by locations in Japan and the Czech Republic.
An Austrian design studio introduced its vision of nomadic living. They presented objects as contemporary sculptures.
Diploma Selection
The third year of the graduate projects competition, featuring 37 finalists from 12 countries.
And the awards goes to…
The Czech graduate Winner was Eduard Herrmann for his Satellite Park Bench.
The International graduate Winner was Crafting Plastics Studio, Vlasta Kubušová and Verena Michels for their bioplastic eyewear collection.
