“No Screw No Glue” series by Joost Van Bleiswijk

mint is proud to announce the launch of a handmade polished steel desk and chair by Dutch designer Joost Van Bleiswijk as part of his “No Screw No Glue Series”.

The chair consists of 6 parts and the desk of 34 parts, all hand finished stainless steel that slot into one another without glue, screws or welds. Both are available in a limited edition of 8, plus 2 artist proofs.

Below are a few comments from the designer:

“I find it interesting to work with construction methods to create forms that limit the possibilities of what I can design.
Then I come up with a shape and push those limitations.

The objects have a classical feel. This is because I draw inspiration from the past and create contemporary versions of long forgotten objects such as a writing desk, standing clock, hourglass and a chessboard.

These items have so much history that it’s very interesting to play with the archetypal outcome of hundreds of years of furniture design.”
