We met 3 years ago at the Royal College of Art in London and realised that we were striving for the same goal.

We want to put contemporary jewellery and objects in the spotlight!

This is exactly what our previous events where about! They included a walking exhibition throughout London in collaboration with the Design Museum, an exhibition at London Design Festival and an interactive promotional event at Schmuck international jewellery fair in Munich.

Now we need to get attention from a wider design audience and to do that we need to have a strong presence at big events like Milan Design Week.

That is what we are working towards at the moment. At Milan Design week (8 -13 April 2014) we will be one of the first collectives showing contemporary jewellery.

Last year Milan Design Week saw over 80,000 visitors. It comprises hundreds of events and exhibitions that animate the entire city making it one of the most important contemporary design events in the world.

“Ceci n’est pas un bijou” is the title of our project. It questions if contemporary jewellery belongs in the design, art or craft world. How function relates to jewellery and our work.

We have designed and are in the process of, hand-making an eye-catching innovative display system. Most importantly we are all working hard to produce NEW jewellery and objects that challenge the above debate.

We’ve been invited to show with Designersblock, so we’re already half way there, now all we need is your help. Designersblock will be promoted by Wallpaper Magazine and we will be in the same design district as Droog Design, Kvadrat, Sarah Lucas and Rue Du Vertbois.

Your contribution will go towards hire of the stand place, materials for the display of the show, signage, traveling costs within Milan and other logistics needed to exhibit.

Our presence in Milan will give us a chance to be recognised as a discipline and really kick-start our careers as young designers. Without your support we won’t be able to reach our goal.

Thank you so much for your interest and please support us!

In return for your support you will receive exclusive items, limited edition pieces and jewellery designed and made by us!

“RUBBISH JEWELLERY”, cigarette wrapper gold plated silver brooch – Hollie Paxton

Hollie’s piece intends to comment on the throwaway culture that’s prevalent in Western society. The brooch inverts the idea of what can be precious, as the object I have chosen to recreate, once used, is disposable and almost worthless.

"PRIVATE ICE", neckpiece, Corian®, gold plated brass - Marina Stanimirovic
“PRIVATE ICE”, neckpiece, Corian®, gold plated brass – Marina Stanimirovic

Are rhythms supports or securities? Is dissonance always synonymous of mistakes or a form of freedom? I am particularly interested in dances, musical performances and sexuality as tools for research and understanding of the notion of rhythms of life. These are for me primitive expressions, inspiring pleasures and elation but also tensions and risks, where the subconscious is both explored and exposed.

By exploring various interpretations, my work is a constant search for balance, this intangible space of oscillation, in between grace and gravity.”

Thank you for taking the time to read what we and our project are about!

It would be great if you could be part of making our next step come true!

Risks and challengesLearn about accountability on Kickstarter

During our first year of coming together we have already organised 7 international successful events. During these events we overcame several hurdles and as a result we have gained strong co-ordinating and problem solving skills.

As a collective we are group of very hard-working, motivated designer makers. To achieve our project we are working after hours, at the weekend, sometimes even through the night to ensure we achieve deadlines on time so we can deliver a strong presence at Milan Design Week.

We are very lucky to already have Designersblock’s backing, who have 12 years of experience of putting together major group exhibitions in Milano during Milan Design Week. Working together with them gives us a real confidence boost that achieving our goal to exhibit in Milan is possible.

We have already self-funded our accommodation and flights so 7 of us can be present in Milan, this reflects our commitment to making our project happen. If the campaign is unsuccessful then we will not be able to exhibit at Milan Design Week. If we are successful then we don’t foresee any risk in us not attending the fair.

Under no circumstance will your pledges not be fulfilled. Our jewellery is all donated from collective members, so it is already made and sitting ready to be packaged and dispatched, our totebags and stickers will be made to order but we assure they will be ready for May 2014 dispatch. The delivery will not be carried out by us personally, so potential delays due to our delivery company will be out of our hands.
