A little personal ornamentation…
Some of the most intriguing objects we’ve come across over the years have been pieces of jewellery. These tiny treasures have always been welcome guests at Mint, especially during the design festival in September. Last year, we handpicked two graduates from CSM, Tresy Liaunardy and Charlotte Emily Fisher, to represent their craft.
Rose Petal Jewellery by Tresy Liaunardy
‘Hold my hand, let me take you to a world that never fades. To fragrances that never end, let me travel through your veins, let this rose, fill you with its scent’.
Tresy’s love of jewellery was inspired by her mother’s involvement in the industry. Having grown up in Indonesia, her latest collection is motivated by the UK’s rich history and eccentricities. Tresy believes that what we see is just a conventional guise for the real stories the lie beneath the surface. She aims to express these feelings through her jewellery.
‘When I first came to London I was in awe. In awe of how the world around me was running, people were racing to get from A to B, and historical monuments and attractions were in the midst of it all, reminding me that this city has stood the test of time. It is poised, yet chaotic. It is a testimony of beauty and finesse. Like a rose.
You cannot tame a rose. It is elegant, but it has its thorns. This is what makes it mysterious. I wandered through many London gardens and they whispered to me like poem. I decided to preserve them through my collection. I made this collection to pay tribute to the elegant and pure English Rose. Pearls are also a featured material in this collection because of their significance in the jewellery of the English Royal Family. Pearls represent classic beauty which I associate with England. So please take a moment, and as they say, stop and smell the roses.‘

Blood & Hair Collection by Charlotte Emily Fisher
A modern take on Victorian ‘memento mori’ (Latin for remember that you will die) jewellery. This collection explores the traces that are left on an object when it’s touched by individuals and the memories they cite within.
Each ring is sculpted from the negative space between fingers to form a seamless connection between body and object whilst trapped inside the resin are strands of hair and drops of the artist’s blood. Held in suspension, they flicker like flecks of gold.
