2009 Highlights – Part I – Mint Moves
Mint relocates to the Brompton Quarter
With a new decade beginning and another year ending, 2009 was certainly the most eventful year to date.
After operating for eleven years from its iconic Wigmore St shop we closed in March 09 and re-located to the Brompton Quarter, the newly developed design district in South Kensington.
The new showroom, situated at 2 North Terrace, London sw3 and part of the Empire House Building, has prestigious neighbors such as the Victoria & Albert Museum, The National History Museum and design retailers such as Skandium and Few & Far amongst others.
In addition, the proximity to The Royal College of Art and The Serpentine Gallery established the area as a design hub in Central London.

For the opening in July 09, mint presented a show in collaboration with the V&A for their summer exhibition Telling Tales, which explored fantastical narratives in design. Exhibits included a stunning Smoke Mirror by Maarten Baas and a Catastrophe Vase by Maxim Velcovsky. The Smoke Mirror was acquired by the V&A for its permanent collections.
